How to use Random Number Generator

  1. Enter the lowest and highest numbers allowed.
  2. Choose how many numbers to draw and whether repeats are allowed.
  3. Optionally choose decimals or sorted output.
  4. Select Generate, then copy the result.

Random Number Generator features

Any range

From small ranges such as 1–6 to very large ones, including negative numbers.

Unique draws

Turn off repeats to draw like a raffle or lottery, with each number at most once.

Decimal numbers

Generate values with up to six decimal places.

Sorting

Show results in ascending or descending order, or as drawn.

Fair randomness

Every value in the range is equally likely; the cryptographic source avoids patterns.

History

Your recent draws are listed during the visit.

When to use Random Number Generator

  • Picking a winner for a giveaway, raffle or classroom activity.
  • Generating lottery-style number sets.
  • Choosing random samples, test data or seat assignments.
  • Settling a decision or game turn fairly.

Random Number Generator FAQ

Are the numbers truly random?

They come from your browser's cryptographically secure random generator, which is seeded from unpredictable system sources. For practical purposes they are indistinguishable from true randomness.

Are both ends of the range included?

Yes. A range of 1 to 10 can produce both 1 and 10.

What does “no repeats” do?

Each number can appear only once, like drawing numbered balls from a bag without putting them back. You cannot draw more numbers than the range contains.

Is it fair for prize draws?

The draw itself is fair. For public or regulated draws, record the process, for example with a screen recording, so participants can see how the result was produced.

Why do I sometimes get the same number twice in a row?

Repeats are a normal part of randomness. With repeats allowed, each draw is independent, so the same number can come up again.

Can I generate random numbers for a lottery?

You can generate a set of unique numbers in the range your lottery uses, for example six numbers from 1 to 49 with repeats turned off. Every combination is equally likely to be generated, and equally likely to win: no method of choosing numbers improves the odds of a fair lottery.

What makes a random number fair

A fair generator gives every number in the range exactly the same chance. A common programming shortcut, taking a random value modulo the size of the range, quietly breaks that: when the range does not divide the generator's output evenly, smaller numbers come up slightly more often. This tool discards those leftover values instead, a method called rejection sampling, so the distribution is exactly uniform.

Unique draws use a different technique. Rather than drawing repeatedly and skipping duplicates, which slows down as the pool empties, the generator performs a partial Fisher–Yates shuffle of the range, which is both fast and unbiased.

Computers produce two kinds of random numbers. Pseudo-random generators follow a deterministic formula from a starting value called a seed: they are fast and reproducible, which is ideal for simulations and games that need to replay the same sequence, but anyone who learns the seed can predict every value. Cryptographically secure generators are designed so that past outputs reveal nothing about future ones, and they are the right choice whenever the result decides something of value, such as a prize, a password or a security token.
