Merge PDF features

Reorder before merging

Arrange files with the arrow buttons; the merged document follows the list from top to bottom.

Lossless page copy

Pages are transferred as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.

Mixed page sizes supported

Portrait, landscape, A4 and Letter pages can sit side by side in the same output.

Add files in stages

Keep dropping more PDFs onto the list until everything you need is there.

Runs on your device

Files are combined in the browser, which keeps statements, contracts and ID scans private.

When to use Merge PDF

  • Assembling a single application pack from a form, a cover letter and supporting documents.
  • Combining monthly statements or invoices into one file for an accountant.
  • Joining chapters exported separately into a complete report or e-book.

Merge PDF FAQ

How many PDFs can I merge at once?

There is no fixed number. The practical limit is your device's memory; merging dozens of typical documents works without issue on a modern laptop or phone.

Will merging reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied as-is rather than re-rendered, so fonts, vector graphics and image resolution are unchanged.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Encrypted files have to be unlocked first. Use the Unlock PDF tool with the password, then merge the unlocked copies.

Are bookmarks and form fields kept?

Page content, links within a page and annotations are kept. Document-level outlines (bookmarks) from the source files are not combined into a new outline.

Is there a file size limit?

Each file can be up to 100 MB. Because nothing is uploaded, large files are not slowed down by your connection speed.

How PDF merging works

A PDF is a collection of objects: pages, fonts, images and the instructions that draw them. Merging creates a new document and copies the page objects from each source file into it, along with every font and image those pages depend on. Nothing is rasterised or re-encoded, which is why a merged file is roughly the sum of its parts in size and identical in appearance.

Order matters, so this tool lets you arrange the files first. If you need only certain pages from a document, split it first with the Split PDF tool and then merge the pieces you want. If the combined file is too large to send, run it through the PDF Compressor afterwards.

Merging is handy for assembling application packs, combining scanned receipts for an expense claim, putting a cover letter in front of a report, or collecting monthly statements into one annual file. Before merging, check that each file opens without a password, since encrypted files must be unlocked first, and give the files names that sort into the right order. When the merged document will be read on screen, it is worth adding page numbers afterwards so that readers can refer to specific pages of the combined file.
