Cover Letter Generator FAQ

How long should a cover letter be?

Between 250 and 400 words, on one page. Recruiters read quickly; three or four short paragraphs are enough.

Should I repeat my CV?

No. Pick the two or three points from your CV that matter most for this job and say what they show. The letter explains why you fit; the CV supplies the detail.

Who should I address it to?

The hiring manager by name if you can find it in the advert, on the company website or on LinkedIn. Otherwise “Dear Hiring Manager” is accepted.

Does the tool invent experience to make me look better?

No. It uses only what you type. An application containing untrue claims can cost you the job, even after you have started.

Should I write a new letter for every application?

Yes, at least the paragraph about the company and the choice of skills and achievements. Recruiters recognise a generic letter immediately.

Is my information stored?

The built-in letter is composed in your browser and not transmitted. Only if you press the AI button, where available, are the fields sent to the server to request a draft; they are not stored there.

What a cover letter is for

A CV lists what you have done. A cover letter says why that makes you right for this job at this company. It is the one part of an application written for a single reader, and a recruiter who reads it learns two things a CV cannot show: whether you understood the role, and whether you can write a clear page.

The structure is settled. The opening names the job and where you saw it. The middle connects your experience to what the advert asks for: your current role, the skills that match, and one or two achievements with concrete results. A short paragraph says why you want to work for this employer in particular. The closing thanks the reader and invites an interview.

Evidence is what separates a strong letter from a weak one. “I am a motivated team player” says nothing; “I rebuilt the onboarding flow and completion rose from 61% to 78%” says a great deal. Choose achievements that mirror the main requirements in the advert, give numbers where you honestly can, and use the advert’s own words for skills, since many applications are screened by keyword.

Keep it to one page, in plain language, without repeating the CV line by line. Check the company name and the job title, which are easily left over from a previous application. Read the letter aloud once: sentences you stumble over should be shortened. Then save it as a PDF so the layout arrives intact.
