Website Screenshot FAQ

Does it capture the whole page or only the visible part?

It captures the visible viewport at the chosen size, which is what a visitor sees without scrolling. For long pages, choose the large desktop size to include more.

Why does the screenshot show a cookie banner?

The page is loaded in a fresh browser without stored consent, so cookie and newsletter pop-ups appear exactly as they would for a new visitor.

Why do some sites fail or show an error page?

Sites behind a login, sites that block automated browsers, and pages that take longer than about 30 seconds to load cannot be captured.

Can I capture pages on my local network?

No. For security, only public internet addresses can be captured, and the browser is prevented from loading anything from private networks.

Is the screenshot stored?

The image is kept only long enough for you to download it and is deleted automatically within half an hour.

How server-side screenshots work

A screenshot service runs a real web browser without a visible window. It opens the page at a chosen window size, waits for it to load, then draws the result into an image instead of onto a screen. Because it is a real browser, the result includes web fonts, CSS layouts and content added by JavaScript.

Loading arbitrary pages on a server needs care. A page could try to make the server's browser request addresses on the internal network. This tool validates the address first and blocks every request from the page to private and local networks, so only public content can appear in a capture.
